Aspendale

Rossdale Golf Course

I advocate for preserving Rossdale Golf Course. Rezoning it to residential will permanently destroy this green space, worsen road congestion, and further strain medical and educational services. It should remain a golf course to benefit residents and protect local wildlife and birdlife. I have liaised with the Council for the past two years advocating to save Rossdale Golf Course and worked to keep the community informed.
I believe in a better outcome for our community because once it’s gone it’s gone forever.

Bins on the beach

To prevent pollution of our coastal areas bins must be readily available and emptied at the right frequency. High-use areas like beaches, walkway entries, life-saving clubs, and car parks need sufficient cover. I support an approach that includes resident consultation and feedback.

Now we’ve seen the removal of bins from our beaches in Kingston, it has become clear this is not what residents want. There will be an opportunity to review this decision 8 months from when it was made. I will be speaking with residents ongoing and if elected will be making sure we have a more acceptable solution in place.  Being told “this is what other councils have done around the bay” is completely unacceptable, decisions should not be made because that’s what others have done, they should be made after local resident consultation.

Boatshed and Bathing Box support for owners

I don’t support the changes to the Boatshed and Bathing Box Policy 2024.

Mordialloc Creek Master Plan

Mordialloc Creek is vital to our waterways and wetlands. I support efforts to maintain and improve its health, including drainage systems, stormwater and rubbish catchment, and accessibility for boating and water use.

Level Crossing Removal

I will continue to advocate with State Government to address resident’s concerns. Living here makes us the best judge of what we need on a day-to-day basis. Closing Bear Street is going to impact traffic movement significantly. The “no left turn” at the new intersection of Pine Cresent lacks basic common sense, the council need to represent residents and make sure this simple amendment is made. The pedestrian underpass that assists many residents including school children each day, needs a safe and efficient resolution so that people can continue to move safely under the rail. 

Aspendale Gardens

Aspendale Gardens Kindergarten

I support extending the 40km zone on Kearney Drive to include Aspendale Gardens Kindergarten. Reduced speed limits improve pedestrian safety and reduce the risk of fatality.

Bike and BMX Track

Yammerbook Nature Reserve has many makeshift bike jumps showing a demand for fun and challenging bike courses. I’ve started a discussion with a company specialising in bike track projects to share ideas with residents, the Trail Collective and Melbourne Water.

Aspendale Gardens Shopping Centre

It is challenging to own and operate a small business. I’ll work to support small businesses by reducing paperwork, fees and red tape so they can focus on what’s important to them. With my experience in small business operations, I will be a strong supporter of current and new businesses.

Branagan Drive Walking Path

I support upgrading the shared pedestrian bike path and adding more bins along paths. These pathways help preserve and protect green spaces, as well as make these spaces available and accessible to everyone.

Aspendale Gardens Community Centre

I support Kingston Council ongoing funding to assist with delivering services providing healthy, uplifting and engaging activities for all ages and abilities. Community connection is important.

Mordialloc Creek Trail native tree corridor

Mordialloc Creek Trail between Wells Road and Bowen Parkway overlooks Braeside Industrial Estate. A native tree corridor here will reduce residential noise and light pollution, improve air quality and provide a connecting habitat for native fauna between Yammerbook and Waterways.

Waterways

Nest at Waterways Cafe - Public toilets and car park extension

The Nest at Waterways Café is a central meeting place for residents and visitors and a great place to enjoy Waterways Lake. Investing in parking and a public toilet facility here will improve accessibility for all.

Playgrounds and sport facilities

The playgrounds within Waterways are in need of a refresh. A number of residents have expressed an interest in a half-court basketball court / netball facilities in the area but not too close to homes. I’d like to hear your thoughts, so please reach out and let me know.

Review and remediation of damaging trees

Throughout Waterways there are a number of trees that have been planted too close to residents’ boundaries with some disrupting stormwater pipes and drainage. I support the targeted removal of specific trees before they cause more extensive damage and for replacement native trees to be planted at safe distance from residents boundaries and drainage infrastructure.

Slow down for ducks sake

Waterways residents are very aware of the birdlife that share their home and cross the roads but unfortunately, the safety of birdlife is not always known to visitors. I’d like to work with residents to achieve a safe, positive outcome to protect everyone who calls Waterways home.

Snake prevention - Garden and lawn maintenance

In warmer months, long grasses can hide snakes, so it’s crucial to maintain them more frequently for the safety of residents and our four-legged friends.
