Local focus
- Cut wasteful project spending.
Council needs to stay in its lane and leave State and Federal politics where they belong. Council focus on local issues and spending only. - Freeze council rates.
Increasing rates is lazy financial management. Audit and review current spending to see what can be done more efficiently, reprioritise and cancel projects not offering value for money. - Keep external contracts local.
Where possible Council should manage works internally. If external contractors are required, the Council should be prioritising sourcing resources from our local area. - Hold an independent review of Council operations.
Implement Key Performance Indicators for all levels of the Council. Cut indulgent spending and travel, including hospitality for Councillors and Council staff. - Monitor and restrict development.
Yammerbook’s green spaces are not spaces for mass housing development. - Support small businesses.
Reduce the cost of running a business in Kingston. Including removal of bottlenecks and requirements in place for permits to be obtained, waiting times are currently unreasonable and restrict businesses from operating efficiently. I will work with businesses and help to achieve outcomes in a far more economical and reasonable timeframe. - Review of Grant approval process.
I have been made aware of large grants of ratepayers’ money being directed to certain organisations.
The grant approval process needs to be fair and 100% transparent.
